A 10-second looping motion piece on a square poster: a tuxedo cat drawn and printed live, in the look of a risograph print. Blue pencil construction rings and guides come first, then tapered ink lines draw on, head first, then ears, eyes, nose and mouth, body, legs, tail, whiskers and paws, with dry-brush gaps and a doubled wet edge, their points jittering ten times a second so the line "boils". Then the plates print one by one, each flooding in through a soft, noisy front, slightly out of register and speckled with missed ink: the orange background block with the cat knocked out of it, a peach stipple over the fur, the black dry-brush coat raked with streaks, the orange irises, and the blue shadows on the white fur, inner ears and ground, which drift a little out of register. The pupils and nose fill in last and the pencil fades away. The cat never stops moving: it breathes, sways and nods its head, glances left and right, blinks (once slowly), twitches its ears, sways its tail and twitches its whiskers, posed twelve times a second like hand-drawn animation. Then it starts again from blank paper. Everything is one 2D canvas, redrawn from scratch for any moment, so window.__render(seconds) and the included recorder give frame-exact video; the inks, every plate's timing and the cat's motion are plain settings. ?seed= makes the paper grain and ink speckle repeatable.
