budget mixer

A monthly budget as a dark, monochrome mixing desk, on a 10-second loop that plays by itself. Five channels, Rent, Food, Transport, Fun and Savings, share a fixed $4,200, each with a metal fader on a $0–2k scale, an LED meter of what's been spent and live amounts underneath. A cursor raises Fun from $400 to $900 and the other faders drop to make room while the split bar on top re-balances; the master knob turns from week 1 to week 3, the meters fill, and Food runs into the red with a −$72 tag as the Over total lights up. Fun comes down to $600 and the red clears, the knob turns back and the meters drain, and Fun returns to $400. Colour appears only in the meters: white when fine, amber near the limit, red when over. Rent is locked. Geist and Geist Mono, film grain, and a 1080 × 1080 stage that scales to fit any window.
