instant study

A single interactive object on a dark, softly lit desk: a white-bordered instant print, still undeveloped. Grab it and shake it, and the photo develops faster the harder you shake: a murky blue-grey first, then a tonal image rising out of it with the shadows first and the highlights lagging, then colour flooding in with a cyan cast that turns warm, in uneven chemistry patches, with film grain and a soft gloss that slides as the print tilts. While you hold it, the print hangs from the point you grabbed on a spring, swings with your hand's sideways speed and lifts off the desk, its shadow growing and drifting away. Left alone it develops very slowly, and once it's past halfway it finishes on its own. Let go and it's laid back down in the middle of the desk. Double-click or press C for a fresh print. A ring-and-dot cursor turns dark over the print and disappears while you hold it. The print and its shadows are one WebGL fragment shader; touch grabs and shakes too, and on phones the print fills more of the screen.
